An introduction to Backpacking
Backpacking is probably the most satisfying way
to travel and see the world that one could wish to take. There are no set
schedules to meet, no set meal times, you can travel where
you want, travel when you want and travel how you want.
The question I get asked most is: "Will
I be lonely if I travel on my own"? The answer: It
depends on yourself. I personally do not find it easy
to strike up a conversation with a stranger but I know I
meet more people during a trip than I do at home, the reason being, people traveling alone are far more likely to strike up a conversation with another solo traveler than than they would with a member of a group of traveler. I have
never felt alone on a trip, in fact it is almost impossible
to travel and not be drawn into some conversation by someone
unless you deliberately avoid it.
